The Origin of Hung Ga
During the Qing dynasty, or Manchu regime, a merchant named Hung Hei Hung reached the Fujian Shaolin Temple, seeking refuge to learn Kung Fu in the famous monastery. Hung was strongly motivated by his desire to avenge the death of his father at the hands of the Manchus. He was accepted by the Temple’s Aboot, Chi San, who entrusts the monk San Te to teach young Hung. San Te teaches Hung Hei Hung the Five Animals Boxing. It is said that Hung was an expert in the technique of the tiger.
